Sulphuret of antimony is the ore from which all the preparations of antimony are formed. In Pharmacy, it is the native sesquisulphuret of antimony, purified by fusion. When prepared for medical use, by trituration and levigation, it forms a powder, Antimonii sulphuretum praeparatum, (Ph. D.) of a black, or bluish gray colour, which is insoluble. It is slightly diaphoretic and alterative, and has been used in chronic rheumatism, cutaneous diseases, &c.
