An instrument devised by Tarnier for breaking up the base of the fetal cranium in cephalotripsy; consisting of a heavy perforator with a conical screw point, and of two blades like those of a cephalotribe, either or both of which may be attached to a pivot on the perforator after the latter has been engaged in the base of the skull.
