An indigenous plant, Nat. Ord. Ranunculaceae, Sex. Syst. Polyandria Polygynia, flourishing from Kentucky to Carolina and Florida; and covering the surface of ponds, marshes, &c. The fresh leaves are mucilaginous, and have been used in pulmonary complaints, dysentery, &c., like Cetraria.
