An Argentine poet; born in Salta, March 8, 1832. He was graduated at the University of San Carlos, Buenos Ayres; practiced law; was elected deputy to the national congress, and became its president. He gained reputation as a poet, and is held in highest esteem by his countrymen. His poems are gathered in the volume entitled "Hojas al Viento", published in 1871.
