(CAV) A disk driving scheme in which the angularvelocity of the disk is kept constant. This means that thelinear velocity of the disk is larger when reading orwriting the outer tracks. The disadvantage of this techniqueis that the read/write speed varies from track to track.However, as mechanical stability puts an upper limit on theangular velocity (and not the linear velocity) this allows thefull potential of the drive to be used.
