In Huxley’s classification of birds, in which the main characters are drawn from the osseous structure, a sub-order of Carinatae, having the vomer abortive or small; the maxillo-palatines united across the middle line, either directly or by means of ossifications in the nasal septum. It includes a great number of grallatorial and natatorial birds, the accipitrine or raptorial, the scansorial, most of the fissirostral groups, and all the Syndactyli.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
