A Greek philosopher, who flourished near the end of the second century; a physician of the "empirical" school, whence his surname. In his "Outlines of Pyrrhonism" he revived the skepticism of Pyrrho; and he wrote a work on skepticism, under the title "Adversus Mathematicos".
