A Welsh poet and antiquary; born at Cynhawdref, Lledrod, Cardiganshire, May 20, 1731; died there, August 1789. He translated Welsh masterpieces into English, and wrote in English "The Love of our Country" (1772), a poem which won general recognition as original and pleasing.
