A Czech poet; born at Dolinek, Bohemia, April 5, 1835; died at Prague, Oct. 8, 1874. His lyric poems have met with wider appreciation than his stories among his countrymen. His plays have been staged with success. His best poetry appears in a volume entitled "Nature".
