An American author, dramatist and critic; born in Buffalo, N. Y., in 1860. Among his many opera librettos are "Robin Hood", "Rob Roy", "The Fortune Teller", "Wizard of the Nile", "Foxy Quiller" and "The Casino Girl". He also wrote "Will Shakespeare" (a comedy) (1893); "Lyrics and Sonnets" (1894); "Stage Lyrics" (1901).
