known also as Alcharisi. A Spanish Jewish poet; born in Xeres, about 1190 (?); died 1235. A devoted student of Arabian poetry, he rendered the "Sittings" or "Assemblies" of the great poet Hariri into Hebrew; but his masterpiece is the exquisite "Tach-Kemoni", or picture of every-day Jewish life and character in his own time,- a poem in which an Arabian influence predominates.
