A peculiar albuminoid pellicle, which forms on the urine of a pregnant female when allowed to stand for a few days. It is whitish, opalescent, slightly granular, and may be compared to the fatty substance that swims on the surface of soups, after they have been allowed to cool. When taken in conjunction with other phenomena, it is a valuable aid in the diagnosis of early pregnancy.
