Employees leased through a professional employer organization (PEO). The PEO is the leased workers' official employer, handling payroll, tax reporting, and benefits. The leased employees do work for the leasing company or business owner. This is a better way to have some types of work done, such as for augmenting project staff without adding human resource responsibilities. Also known as contracted workers.
