An Austrian art critic; born at Leitmeritz in Bohemia, June 3, 1838; died there, Aug. 14, 1884. He became professor of the science of Aesthetics in the University of Vienna, 1873. He wrote: "Durer: History of his Life and his Art" (1876); "J. J. Callot's Sketch-Book" (1881); "Art Letters from Vienna" (1884).

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
