A Territory of the United States, was organized May 2, 1890. It was formed from Indian Territory and the Public Land. The Territory was first opened to settlers April 22, 1889, and in 1890 the population was 61,834, including that of Green County, which is claimed by Texas. The population now (1894) is more than double what it was in 1890.
