The systematic and pharmacopoeial name of the Bed corn-poppy, Corn rose, Papaver erraticum seu cereale seu rubrum, Copper rose, Red-mailkes, (F.) Coquelicot. The heads of this species contain a milky juice of a narcotic quality. A syrup, Syrupus Rhoeados, of its flowers-Rhoeas (Ph. L. and E.)-has been directed, which has been esteemed diaphoretic and slightly soothing; but is more admired for Its colour than for any other property.
