An English bishop; born at Clapham, Sept. 7, 1805; killed by a fall from his horse, near Dorking, July 19, 1873. He wrote: "Note-Book of a Country Clergyman" (1833); "Eucharistica" (1839); "Sermons Preached Before the University of Oxford" (2 series, 1839-62), and other volumes of sermons; "The Rocky Island and Other Parables" (1840); "A History of the Protestant Episcopal Church of America" (1844); "Heroes of Hebrew History" (1870); "Speeches on Missions" (1874); and many miscellaneous publications.
