A German poet; born near Dantzic in 1835. He published a volume of "Juvenile Poems" at Vienna in 1860, and "The Land of the Theiss and its Poets" (1882). He came to the United States in 1867 and edited journals in the German language. He made an excellent translation of "Bret Harte's Poems" (1882).
