A Hungarian poet (1773-1805). He drew from the well of the national poesy, and so contributed to the formation of a native lyricism. His principal works are: "The Hungarian Muse" (1797); "Dorothea", a comic epos (1804); "Odes" (1805); "The Shepherd King" (1806); "Anacreontics"; "Battle of Frogs and Mice".
