That portion of the heavy oil of coal tar which distills between 165 and 200 C. It resembles c. in appearance, and is often substituted for it. It differs from c. in containing carbolic acid. It also contains cresol, xylenol, and other substances of the aromatic group.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
